The Cybertruck is ugly. But these bland, bulbous, space- inefficient trucks are also ugly. Wanna know why?

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Because even if Americans want trucks for none commercial use for some goddamn reason, these are meant to work commercially. they have a separate bed, good ground clearance, and in many cases ease of repair.

When you don’t have a complex internal combustion engine, or AWD drivetrain to fit in, you can do a lot more with all that real estate , and there’s no good reason for it to look like a regular truck. If the bed is already decently big (6'5" in the case of the tesla) you can get away with making it unibody, and attain better handling.

worst thing is that according to some, generous, specs, the cyber truck would be better.

He should of just made a van. It’s that sharp edge on the roof that ruins it.

I’ve been thinking: The cybertruck is a great fit for most of the duties that current crew cab trucks are actually used for .

Hauling people? Definitely .

Occasionally hauling stuff? Sure, it might be annoying to reach into it from the side, but current trucks are so tall that it’s already difficult.

Plus, it already has several features included that would be expensive in the aftermarket: On board 110v (and 220v!) power, on board air compressor, factory installed power retracting lockable bed cover.

And it’s roughly comparable in price, and it’s supposed to be a great handling vehicle, and you don’t have to worry about gas prices.

The reason that Tesla cars have been successful is that they look just like a comparable gas powered car, with a smidgen of futurism added .

This is the same reason that the Rivian truck will succeed and the Tesla truck will have issues. Make it look like an evolution of what is currently available, not some spaceship thing.

Y’all all starting in the with Ridgeline argument, and we know how that translates to sales.

People want what they want, and the form that’s been around for decades is gonna be hard to truck buyers to leave.

I don't disagree with most of that, but at this point... Rivian is still firmly in vaporware territory5

But the form is informed by a technology that the CyberTruck doesn’t use....

that doesnt matter, truck buyers want it to look like their old truck, their dads old truck, and their granddads old truck. they dont want a triangle on wheels
